Overview

Gynecomastia, or enlarged male breast tissue, is common and can affect men of any age. There are several reasons why men may have gynecomastia including genetics, weight changes, medications, and hormones. Gynecomastia does not always resolve with exercise and diet.

Male breast reduction removes excess glandular tissue and fat to achieve a flatter, firmer and more masculine chest.

Is it right for you?

You may be a good candidate if the following describe you:

  • You have excess male breast tissue that has not responded to exercise and diet.
  • You are self-conscious about the appearance of your chest.
  • Your condition has been stable and you are at a steady weight.
  • You are in good general health and do not smoke.

How the procedure works

Treatment may consist of liposuction alone, direct tissue removal, or a combination depending on whether the excess tissue consists mostly of fat, glandular tissue, or both. Incisions are made as small and discreet as possible.

Dr. Whitlock will examine your chest and determine the best approach to achieve the most natural results for your specific body.

Common questions

Gynecomastia Surgery questions

Answers to questions patients ask most about this procedure.
Will the results last?
Results are usually long lasting if your weight is stable and the cause has been addressed. Weight gain or certain medications may affect results over time.
Are the scars noticeable?
Incisions are made discreetly, either around the areola or in natural contours. If liposuction is used, incisions are small.
