Overview

Overly large breasts can cause chronic neck, back and shoulder pain, skin irritation and problems with exercise and clothing. Breast reduction removes excess breast tissue and skin to create a lighter and more proportionate breast.

Many patients report immediate relief from these physical problems and also experience a significant improvement in comfort and confidence.

Is it right for you?

You may be a good candidate if the following describe you:

  • Your breast size contributes to neck, back or shoulder pain.
  • You have skin irritation under your breasts or grooves from bra straps.
  • Physical activity is limited by breast size.
  • You are in generally good health and do not smoke.

How the procedure works

Reduction reshapes the breasts while reducing volume and elevating position much like a lift. Incision patterns are chosen to balance the amount of tissue removed with the desired outcome for discreet scarring.

For some patients a portion of the procedure may be considered medically necessary. Coverage rules vary and should be verified with your insurer.

Recovery

First few daysDiscomfort is well controlled and relief from weight is often immediate.
