Overview
Overly large breasts can cause chronic neck, back and shoulder pain, skin irritation and problems with exercise and clothing. Breast reduction removes excess breast tissue and skin to create a lighter and more proportionate breast.
Many patients report immediate relief from these physical problems and also experience a significant improvement in comfort and confidence.
Is it right for you?
You may be a good candidate if the following describe you:
- Your breast size contributes to neck, back or shoulder pain.
- You have skin irritation under your breasts or grooves from bra straps.
- Physical activity is limited by breast size.
- You are in generally good health and do not smoke.
How the procedure works
Reduction reshapes the breasts while reducing volume and elevating position much like a lift. Incision patterns are chosen to balance the amount of tissue removed with the desired outcome for discreet scarring.
For some patients a portion of the procedure may be considered medically necessary. Coverage rules vary and should be verified with your insurer.
