Overview

Some patients want more than what can be achieved with just a lift and/or more shape than can be achieved with just an implant. Combining a lift with an augmentation addresses both volume and position in one coordinated procedure.

This combination is often used after pregnancy and/or significant weight loss when the breasts have lost volume and firmness.

Is it right for you?

You may be a good candidate if the following describe you:

  • You want increased volume and a higher, firmer position for your breasts.
  • Your breasts have lost volume and have also dropped.
  • You prefer to address both concerns in one recovery period.
  • You are in generally good health and do not smoke.

How the procedure works

Combining procedures requires planning so that the implant and the lift work well together. Dr. Whitlock stages the techniques in one procedure to achieve desired shape, position and symmetry.

Because two goals are addressed at once, recovery is planned carefully and thoroughly before surgery.

Recovery

First few daysRest and prescribed medications. Supportive bra is worn continuously.
1–2 weeksLight activity and desk work typically resume.
6 weeksFull activity returns as healing is confirmed.
Common questions

Augmentation with Lift questions

Answers to questions patients ask most about this procedure.
Is it better to combine or do two surgeries?
For many patients a combined procedure means one anesthesia and one recovery. For some patients staging is safer. Dr. Whitlock recommends the option that best fits your goals and anatomy.
Will the result look natural?
The plan is designed to work with your body and proportions. Implant choice and lift technique are coordinated so that results are balanced and natural.
